The short version

Your calls are never recorded. Audio travels live between the two people on the call and is translated as it is spoken. Once a sentence has been translated, the sound is gone. No copy of a call exists anywhere for anyone to play back.

Why call audio is not kept

A recording is the most personal thing a call can produce, and Verba does not need one to work. Translation happens in the moment, so there is no reason to hold on to the sound afterwards.

Audio that is never stored cannot leak or be handed over later. Keeping nothing is the simplest way to protect it.

What is kept

So you can return to a conversation, the words are saved as text. That covers the written transcript and a summary of each call. Notes and whiteboards from the session are kept with it, as are any files shared there.

Only the two people in a session can open it. Every request is checked on our servers against the signed in account. Your private notes and private whiteboards are visible to you alone and are never shown to the other person, and neither are your language choices.

Study memory is off until you turn it on. Turning it off deletes what it held.

Your voice

To speak for you, Verba builds a voice model from one short recording you make during enrollment. You are asked for consent before the microphone opens.

That recording is kept privately so you can play it back from Settings. Deleting your voice removes the model and the recording together.

Your account

You sign in with an email and password or with Google. Cookies are used to keep you signed in.

To prevent abuse, repeated attempts to join a session are counted for a short window and then cleared.

Outside services

A small number of trusted providers help run live calls and build voice models. Each one receives only what its step needs. Access is granted by our servers, and the keys behind it never reach your browser.
